False Narrative: Hymen

Contrary to popular belief, the hymen

does not break during vaginal intercourse.

It stretches        to contain the pain of

every child sent to the matrimonial bed with a white sheet

every teen subjected to virginity testing 

every woman forced to undergo hymenoplasty – 

two thousand dollars to preserve her father’s honor.
