Announcements: Deadline Extension for Art & Media Submissions

Hello Witches!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your submissions. It’s been a pleasure receiving submissions from new folks, as well as seeing some returning artists and writers who submitted for our first issue. We’re thoroughly enjoying our quarterly science-fiction/fantasy pieces! And the pieces we’ve received for the weekly section have been wonderfully diverse, from African American Historical Fiction, to poems about quantum entanglement. We’ve got some interesting women in the house!

The final days of our open submission call (May 10th) are coming up! However, the deadline has been extended until May 15th for media and art pieces. Send us your sci-fi / fantasy artwork! For more information about our current open call, please visit our ‘connect’ page.

In other news, we’ve decided to go independent! In order to keep OyeDrum alive and thriving, we’ll need pesos. However, we want to stay committed to artistic freedom without compromise. Our mission is to publish and promote creative and intellectual work by women, both emerging and established, especially in genres and fields where women need more visibility. We are committed to making OyeDrum a community, and a home for experimental work in form or meaning, a place where you can find inspiration and creativity, and a place for voices, subjects and themes that are unusual or underrepresented. But, again, for that dream, we need some funds to sustain the site and staff, and we hope to grow! It is also our dream and goal to make a few print editions of OyeDrum. (Don’t worry- it will be limited, keeping our beloved trees in mind.) So, we’re setting up a Patreon page. Once the page is up, we’ll announce it on social media.

Ok! It’s probably time for another Zoom meeting now.

Stay safe and healthy out there!

Love,

OyeDrum Magazine
